Generating more ad inventory is typically not an industry problem - we have plenty of space and not enough advertisers. What are you doing that goes beyond providing more space.

When you set up your Q&A site you choose the categories for the questions. This provide an opportunity for targeting ads based on the category. There are two ways this can be useful:

    1. Subjects you don't typically cover.

Let's say you are a weekly paper that covers news, arts, entertainment, culture, etc. And let's say your Q&A site is designed to be a general resource for local information about your city. While your main categories may be things like "City Living" etc. you might also have a "Health" category since your visitors will likely want to know things like where to get low cost health insurance, or who knows a good dentist. This provides new opportunities to sell advertising to health care providers and insurance companies.

    2. Niche topics

Let's say you have a great book editor, you can set up a category specifically for book recommendations. This highly specific audience looking to get books provides an ideal target for local bookstores or national booksellers/publishers.
