    Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for the compliment about YouSaidIt and your interest in Questionland.

Unfortunately, we don't offer a free version of the product anymore. If you are interested in the licensed version which is $190/mo I'd be happy to help set it up for you.

I like your project. Are you planning to include Coffee on your list of items? I've recently been ordering and roasting coffee from Panama and it has been great.

  • What's the best way to set up an account for another person?
    Mypicture_small

The advantage of doing it for them is that it can all be set up and their first experience can be just to get a question via email and all they have to do is click on "answer this". You will need to send them their password and tell them to change it of course.

If they are a tad more involved it's ideal that they set it up themselves because they can add the picture and bio as they'd like to see it. It really only takes 60 seconds to register.

So, there's no "better" way. Usually I set it up for them and then send it to them in advance for them to add/change the pic/bio. That way I make sure that at least there is a pic/bio.

  • How do I remove an account from a site?
    Mypicture_small

Just go to admin and suspend it - go to users tab, select user and suspend. If the person has asked/answered questions then you'll want to delete them (will be listed with their user and/or under the posts tab).

  • How can I use FAQ?
    Mypicture_small

Implement the Q&A on your site and allow users to ask questions.

Visitors will see the questions previously asked ranked by latest or greatest - and of course the answers to those questions (provided by your company and/or the community).

People can vote for questions/answers they think are best. These will then appear higher in the list.

You can show the FAQs within other site content based on keyword or category.

If you're interested then click on the "plans & pricing" button, choose a plan and complete the 60 second form. Done.

    Thanks

    How can I use FAQ?

  • How does YouSaidIt make social media profitable?
    Mypicture_small

The problem with Social Media is that it is highly fragmented and distributed. While this is great for reaching people, it rarely brings them back to a place where they can convene.

Twitter links typically bring people to an article somewhere on your site. That's great. They may even comment on it. But it is a one-off thing.

By having a stream of Q&A you are always bringing people back to your Social Q&A site where they can discuss the topic at hand or any of the other topics being discussed.

Since the Q&A site is categorized and advertised on you gain value from that. Furthermore it is part of your main site and will attract people to other parts of the site.

Profitability is derived be creating steady traffic that is exposed to relevant advertising or other revenue sources.

  • How can I create a resource for my local community?
    Mypicture_small

The benefit of a Social Q&A site is that people ask and answer the question relevant to your community. Over time you create a growing archive of questions that can be searched or browsed by category.

Because Q&A is structured it is easy to browse the topics, questions and of course the best answers appear first.

So you are creating two resources:

    (1) A place to ask question anytime, and
    (2) An archive of previous questions/answers

  • Why does social Q&A get high quality content compared to many community sites?
    Mypicture_small

Part of the answer to this question is because of the Q&A structure which is described in the answer about moderation.

Most "community" sites are forums added to a site. They rarely include the community because they do not feel like part of the site. Typically the contain a small subsection of the community that becomes somewhat tribal and is not inviting to new members.

The fact that the content is loosely structured in topics and can include threads that go on forever winding on and off topic does not help.

In truth, most active community forums tend to contain a lot of questions and answers. Many of these forums contain great content (unfortunately intermingled with a lot of commentary) and in fact are one of the most important sources of content, especially answers, on the web.

I often refer to forums as the "dark matter" of the Internet because they probably represent the greatest quantity of content and, as I said, are a great resource for answers. In fact Google recently recognized this by adding forums to their search options.

BUT as great as they are, they are not that easy to discover or navigate to the content you actually want which is why I refer to them as "Dark Matter".

  • How do you avoid the normal moderation problems?
    Mypicture_small

We avoid the normal problems of moderation through the Q&A structure. Q&A is not like an standard open forum because it does not promote the venting of unsolicited opinions or "soapboxing". By definition you can either ask your own question or answer a question. Questions are typically social so they promote better behavior.

The moderator can easily "feature" questions. Which means they appear larger and at the top. This sets the example for what good content is and the majority of people will follow whatever model you promote in your featuring.

Because it is Q&A, the content is clearly broken into manageable pieces - they don't go on endlessly spinning off-subject which is one of the main causes of bad content.

When someone asks an inappropriate or "bad" question, it is easy to nip things in the bud. Remove the question and it won't generate the resulting bad content.

One of the most important things is that comments are permitted on people's answers, but that comment is kept separate from the display of the questions/answers and by default it is collapsed, so someone has to be interested to go read it. This means that extraneous debate is kept out of the way of the highly relevant content.

These, together, act to discourage bad content. It is either not displayed or easily nipped in the bud. Most importantly it is discouraged by the community.

  • In what ways does the YouSaidIt site integrate with mine?
    Mypicture_small

It is so tightly integrated with your site that it is your site, all we do is host it:

    1. Your domain (which means your SEO)
    2. Your site design (adopts your CSS styles and has an open HTML/CSS for you to customize).
    3. Your sign in. Visitors won't know even know they were automatically signed in to your Q&A.
    4. Your advertising (and you can zone them by category etc.)
    5. Your community. You have complete management control of your community.
    6. Your content. You control the content through moderation.
